Concert with the participation of cellist Denis Shapovalov

On June 30 at Leighton House will take place a concert with the participation of cellist Denis Shapovalov and pianist Caroline Clipsham, dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sergei Rachmaninov.

At the evening, guests will have a unique opportunity to hear a fantastic piece of chamber music, which has occupied one of the most important places in the cello repertoire − the only Sonata for cello by Sergei Rachmaninov, as well as incredible masterpieces of romantic creativity, which are called the composer’s confession.

The event will also be attended by a talented artist Lucy, whose works will be exhibited in the hall of the museum. In addition, guests are also expected to have free drinks in the interval and a surprise from the artist herself.

Denis Shapovalov is a cellist, conductor, composer, rock performer, Mstislav Rostropovich’s favorite cellist, the only Russian cellist who played at his 75th anniversary in London and New York in 2002. Denis Shapovalov tours in Europe, Asia, America, Japan, his concerts in the most famous halls of the world are held with constant success. Mstislav Rostropovich said of him: “Brilliant talent! He can be proud of him in front of the whole world.”

Caroline Clipsham is a pianist, teacher, director of a documentary film for Carlton television “An Evening in London” about the restoration of Chopin’s grand piano. Winner of many awards and prizes, such as the Claude Beddington Prize for the performance of Beethoven’s works, and the Gregory Saltzman Prize. Caroline has performed at Wigmore Hall in London, at the National Concert Hall in Dublin, with the Ulster Orchestra at the Sonories Contemporary Music Festival for BBC Radio 3. In addition, Caroline toured in Europe, South Africa, together with cellist Orfeo Mandozzi, took part in a tour of Eastern Europe, performed for Cherie Blair, Duchess of Gloucester, Emir of Qatar in 2004, as well as at the charity event of the FA Cup Football Federation in 2007.
