The Old Vic Theatre: A Very Expensive Poison. The Story of Alexander Litvinenko
The Old Vic presents an original play written by Lucy Prebble and directed by John Crowley (Brooklyn, The Goldfinch) which tells the story of Alexander Litvinenko, the ex-FSB officer who was poisoned in London in 2006.
A shocking assassination in the heart of London. In a bizarre mix of high-stakes global politics and radioactive villainy, a man pays with his life.
The play, based on on the Guardian/Faber book by Luke Harding follows Litvinenko and his wife Marina on their journey from Moscow to London which ended in the A&E department of a North London hospital as doctors try to solve their mystery patient’s illness.
At this time of global crises and a looming new Cold War, A Very Expensive Poison sends us careering through the shadowy world of international espionage from Moscow to Mayfair.
The performance will be in English.
