The V&A will open a major exhibition dedicated to Taylor Swift

The Victoria and Albert Museum in London will be hosting a temporary exhibition in celebration of a most beloved pop star- Taylor Swift. With loans from the musician’s own archive, the museum will display the artist’s music and career in 13 steps. Each will underline a Swift-Era, exploring unseen artefacts of her childhood and recording legacy. Afisha.London offers an early glimpse into the exhibition, open from the 27th of July until the 8th of September 2024.

“The Taylor Swift Songbook Trial” will display some of the singer’s most iconic looks, costumes, lyrics, music videos, instruments, awards, and storyboards. Amongst the highlights are Swift’s costume-designed cowboy boots which she wore during her breakout success in 2007. On top of that, her jet-black ruffled shoulder dress will be seen. ‘Swifties’ might already be familiar with the beautiful gown, as she wore it in her latest music video for ‘Fortnight’, her new single from the album ‘The Tortured Poets Department’.

The album was released this April, and as Taylor has started her 22-country tour, it has already been met with huge success. The star will be performing for 152 days, each show lasting 3 hours. She will be visiting the UK a total of 17 times and the tickets cost an average of £206. Allegedly, hers is the ‘most lucrative concert tour in music history’ and the Swifties have boosted London’s economy by an unbelievable sum of £300m, just from attending the concert. On June 21, the Prince of Wales joined her for one of her concerts for his birthday party and described it as a ‘great evening’. The blonde country-pop star will be returning to London this summer for 5 nights in August.

However, if that isn’t enough you can still go back to the V&A where her persona will be all the more present. Curators have stated that ‘Taylor Swift’s songs, like objects, tell stories, often drawing from art, history, and literature. We hope this theatrical trial across the museum will inspire curious visitors.’.
