Four London hotels receive prestigious Michelin Keys

In October 2025, four London hotels joined the elite list of Michelin Keys recipients — a relatively new but already prestigious award in the hospitality world. Unlike the famous Michelin stars, which have been awarded since 1926, the Keys system is a recent innovation. Michelin introduced the program in 2023, and the first awards were presented in 2024. While Michelin stars remain a symbol of culinary excellence, the Keys now serve as a guide for travelers seeking exceptional places to stay.

Today, Michelin Keys recognize outstanding hotels around the world — from Amsterdam’s grand De L’Europe, which has preserved its traditions since the 19th century, to the secluded mountain retreat The Kumaon in the Himalayas and the Nayara Springs resort in the tropical forests of Costa Rica.

The evaluation system is divided into three levels. One Key is awarded to “very special” hotels, Two Keys denote “exceptional” establishments, and Three Keys mark “extraordinary” properties, representing the pinnacle of luxury. Inspections are carried out by anonymous Michelin inspectors, who assess the harmony of all elements: service quality, interior design, atmosphere, location, and the overall impression of the stay. Selection is based not only on luxury but also on authenticity, individuality, and the balance between price and level of service. The new London recipients perfectly illustrate these criteria. The Ritz London and The Lanesborough each received Two Keys.

The Ritz, one of the world’s most famous hotels, opened over a century ago and, together with its Parisian counterpart, became a symbol of classic hospitality. Its Louis XVI–style interiors and prime location near Green Park make it one of the city’s most elegant destinations.

The Lanesborough, located at Hyde Park Corner, was described by Michelin as “a destination for luxury lovers.” Guests here enjoy 24-hour butler service, a refined spa, and even the hotel’s own Siberian cat, Lilibet, a living symbol of homey comfort amid top-tier luxury.

One Key was awarded to At Sloane in Chelsea for its confident mix of bold patterns, historic charm, and Parisian flair, as well as to The Adria in Kensington for its stylish interiors, boutique character, and personalized service. These awards highlight the diversity of London’s luxury hotel scene — from grand classic properties to intimate boutique stays, each offering a unique experience.

London continues to hold its status as the United Kingdom’s capital of luxury hotels. The city is home to eight Three-Key properties, including Claridge’s, The Savoy, The Connaught, Bvlgari Hotel London, and The Peninsula London. Twenty-four hotels have received Two Keys, among them The Dorchester, The Berkeley, Corinthia Hotel London, and the newly recognized The Ritz and The Lanesborough. Twenty-eight properties have earned One Key, including Shangri-La The Shard London, NoMad London, and newer boutique hotels.

The program continues to expand, reaching new markets and regions, establishing Michelin Keys as a truly global benchmark for hospitality excellence, just as Michelin stars have become a universal standard for fine dining.
