In partnership with the Russian pianist, the high-flying soprano’s creative programme features numerous works designed to push the boundaries of the human voice as an instrument. These include compositions associated with the extraordinary Cathy Berberian, whose visual score for Stripsody (1966) consists of comic-book-style sound effects, as well as George Crumb’s take on the poetry of Walt Whitman for voice and amplified piano.
