Contemporary Russian Art Charity Exhibition and Auction

Immediately after the New Year holidays, between 15 and 21 January, the auction house “Litfond” and the Rossotrudnichestvo office in the UK will hold a charity exhibition of modern Russian art in London. The event will take place in support of the London School of Russian Ballet in London. Official opening of the exhibition will take place on Tuesday January 16 at 19:00 at: 37 Kensington High Street, Kensington.

For the guests of the exhibition the auction house “Litfond” prepared an exclusive and truly unique collection of works by famous and most sought-after Russian artists. Among them being such masters of contemporary art as Vladimir Dubosarsky, Konstantin Zvezdochetov, Sergei Shutov, Alexander Petrelli, Alexander Savko, Semyon Agroskin, Gosha Ostretsov, Taisia Korotkova, Alexander Pogorzhelsky and Alexei Mayorov.

All artists gladly offered their works for a charity event in London, many managed to create new works especially for this event. “The most cheerful classic of Moscow contemporary art” (according to Elena Selina), Konstantin Zvezdochetov made a “portrait” of John Bull. Sergei Shutov, exploring the space themes, portrayed the most famous constellation of Ursus Major, hinting at the ancient Greek legend. Alexander Petrelli decided to remind of the Russian children’s poem by Korney Chukovsky the “Stolen Sun”, with the main character, the crocodile, presented on the Red Square. Vladimir Dubosarsky created a refined, lyrical and picturesque work. In the pastel named “Angel” by Alexei Mayorov, fashionistas immediately spot fabric of Coco Chanel quality.

The level of exhibited works is very high. Artists participating in the exhibition are well known both in Russia and in the world. Their works are owned by the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow and the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg, by Georges Pompidou Centre in Paris and the Museum of Modern Art in Avignon. They can also be found  in the Museum of Modern Art (MUKHA) in Antwerp and the Museum of Modern Art in Prato, at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of Fine Arts  in Budapest, in many corporate and private collections across Australia to Chile. The works by Russian masters were exhibited at the largest exhibitions of unofficial Soviet and Russian art in Europe and in the United States. Their personal exhibitions also took place in Paris, New York, Venice, Glasgow and many other art capitals of the world.

The works offered at auction can help one start their personal collection, to make a vivid statement within the interior of an apartment or house. They can also prove a profitable investment. At some point, the famous art dealer Larry Gagosyan bought Vladimir Dubosarsky’s work in a Soho gallery, and sold it later at auction with a tenfold advantage. Equally important is the charitable component of the project: the proceeds from the auction sales will be directed to fund scholarships for young talents studying at the School of Russian Ballet in London.
