Meeting with the author of “The Besieged: A Story of Survival”

This year marks a sad date — 80 years since the start of a tragic period in the history of the Soviet Union and the city of Leningrad. The Russian House in London (Rossotrudnichestvo) invites you to meet Caroline Walton — the author of the book. Participants of the event will remember the heroes who fought on the frontline and on the home front, those who survived the concentration camps and the terrible blockade.

Caroline Walton, British author, specialising in Russia and the USSR, travelled to St Petersburg in 1999 to interview survivors of the Leningrad blockade. In 2011, Biteback UK published The Besieged: A Story of Survival. The book was translated into Russian in 2021 and is in the process of being published by the St Petersburg Association of International Friendship.
