From Russia with Love: Free Lunchtime Concert by Russian Mariinsky Theatre Virtuoso Viktor Korotich
One of the world’s most thrilling operatic baritones, Viktor Korotich, is performing a unique solo concert in London this January, during a rare break from the stage at the world-famous Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg.
The prize-winning Russian singer, who has toured Europe with the Mariinsky Opera, presenting peerless performances of leading roles in Verdi’s Don Carlo, Il Trovatore and Falstaff, Mozart’s Così fan tutte and Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, has created a recital bringing together highlights of his favourite dramatic roles, including Rossini’s Largo al factotum, Britten’s Within this frail crucible of light, Tomsky’s song from Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades, plus works by Richard Strauss, Berlioz, and Mascagni.
Viktor is accompanied by award-winning pianist Alice Turner, an opera and song specialist who performs regularly across the UK, including recent concerts at: Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, the Purcell Room, St James, Piccadilly, and St Martin- in- the- Fields in London and recitals with principal singers of Welsh National Opera at the Welsh Millennium Centre, Cardiff, and in Doha, Qatar.
