The Vache Baroque Festival is back this summer
The Vache Baroque Festival, an innovative open-air classical music venue that was founded by British-Russian soprano Betty Makharinsky, is back this summer. VBF brings audiences a varied programme of opera, dance, drama and much more.
The festival runs from August 28 to September 5, but prior to that, organizers have a special Spring event on May 29 to mark the bank holiday. Join for Coffee Baroque, a family friendly, coffee-themed event of witty music, poetry to the J.S. Bach’s famous Coffee Cantata.
The summer season begins on August 28 with Paradise & Pandemonium, a dramatic reading of extracts from John Milton’s epic poems Paradise Lost and Paradise Regained punctuated with the music of J.S. Bach. Confirmed soloists include the distinguished countertenor, James Hall, and tenor, Nick Pritchard.
On August 30 VBF welcome the return of renowned dance group BirdGang Ltd for an evening of contemporary dance to the sound of traditional Baroque suites. Presented by Master of Ceremonies, Ukweli Roach, dancers add a modern twist to 17th and 18th century dance music with their world-class choreography.
On September 3 and 5, there will be two staged performances of Handel’s pastoral opera, Acis & Galatea, starring the celebrated soprano Rowan Pierce as Galatea. As Handel’s most enduring dramatic work, this beautiful tale of love, tragedy and prevailing hope will transport you to the idyllic utopia of nymphs and shepherds.
