Conference: Modern Technologies in the Teaching of Russian as a Foreign Language

‘Zlatoust’ and ‘Znaniye’ Russian School, with support from Rossotrudnichestvo, present a specialist conference, the first of this training package in the UK.

Delegates will discuss ‘Innovation in Russian language’, get a first glimpse at the new ‘Come On!’ text books, the benefits of billingualism, and a look at an ideal modern teaching lesson.

Guest lecturer — Inga Mangus — Doctor of Pedagogics, founder and president of the Estonian Association of Russian Language and Literature, as well as being the CEO and founder of Pushkin Institute in Tallinn, Estonia. As well as being the author, idea initiator and organizer of multiple traditional events for youth and adult, Dr. Inga Mangus has recently also published the innovative training package for teenagers ‘Come on! Russian as a foreign language for schoolchildren’ that was issued by the Zlatoust Publishing House (Saint- Petersburg, Russia).

Delegates will discuss:

— Innovation in Russian Language Teaching Modern students have changed, so the methods of working with them must change as well,
— The first glimpse at the textbook ‘Come on!’: the basic principles and book’s components,
— The main principles of a modern textbook. What is new and interesting in the textbook for the teacher? What will be liked by the student?
— The benefits of growing up bilingual: what does research show? How can we use this research? The cognitive and social benefits of Bilingualism,
— Master class: “What does a modern lesson look like? (an open lesson),
— What does a modern foreign language lesson look like? You will look at it through the eyes of a teacher, and a student, as well as a lesson on a new modern digital textbook,
— Games in the textbook ‘Come on!’ Gamification is an integral part of the modern educational process. What games can be used in language training?
